AI/ML - Sr Research Lead, Machine Translation

The machine translation (MT) team is looking for a senior leader passionate about advancing the state-of-the-art in MT. We have opportunities in both, technical leadership (individual contributor role) and management.
Machine Translation is a critical technology that enables connecting people across language barriers. The Apple MT organization is responsible for the R&D of state-of-the-art approaches to MT as well as applications of this technology (e.g., Translate app, Safari web page translation). We are looking for a senior leader passionate about applied research in the space of MT, investigating novel modeling and learning approaches while being keenly aware of problems arising in the context of developing real world applications of this technology. In this context, active contributions to the field of MT (e.g., via publishing or via open source software contributions) are encouraged. As a senior leader of our research efforts, the ability to steer close collaborations with many partner teams within the larger MT organization and across all of Apple is key. The successful candidate therefore is a team player with excellent communication skills.
