As a Software Engineer at Boston Dynamics, you will help build exciting and useful payloads to improve Spot’s functionality. You’ll help to integrate a wide variety of sensors, video streams, and actuators so they can make Spot more useful as a robot. Every day you’ll build the software stack that powers payloads, adding custom sensing, communications, and other capabilities to the Spot platform. To thrive in this role, you must be willing to work quickly to get demonstrable prototypes into the hands of our customers while being able to bring code to a production-ready state.

Day to day activities:
Improve interaction with Spot CAM - robust payload integration serving video streams to user interfaces and autonomy systems, webRTC
Responsible for imaging process for Boston Dynamics branded computer payloads including default services, updating, UX, and delivery of applications
Hardware sensor integration; Spot is a robotic platform built to bring information back to people. The surface is only being scratched.
Bringing that new sensor information and outfitting that to a tablet or desktop
Feature development to make customer’s lives easier
Testing features to make sure they can hold up to customer’s surprising use cases
Comfortable writing Python or C++
Familiarity with Linux and Networking
Knowledge of other relevant tech stacks, such as WebRTC and video streaming, Frontend development and React, Docker, CUDA/GPU
