The startup brings behavioral health counselors, performance coaching, and wellness supports together to provide support to employees when and how they need it. Their adaptive supports are accessible through mobile and are personalized based on your learning and communication styles. They partner with employers to give employees on-demand support to build healthy and happier lives.
Our partner is a fast growing startup backed by some of the best investors and founders in the business. They are looking for builders who can help balance the need to grow quickly and stay nimble while keeping the privacy and best interest of their users at the heart of the work.
The salary range for this role is $150,000-165,000 + Equity
About the role
They are looking for a Founding Engineer to join the team. You will be getting in on the ground-level and working on virtually all aspects of the current product and future product development. You will work directly with the CTO to inform decisions across all aspects of the business. You will leverage your deep industry experience in building mobile-first solutions in this or an adjacent space— and matches that experience with empathy. You will help build the foundation of this company: its culture, its processes, and its practices.

•You ship working code - a lot of it - with clarity on what business problem you are addressing with your code.
•You evaluate and make technical architecture decisions with a long term view
•You take pride in the product you create and the code that you write.
•You are a first-principles engineer who asks and understands how the technologies that you use work, and why they work the way they do.
•You take ownership of the code that you write, and you help the team operate with everything that you build, throughout its lifecycle
•You communicate and inform others of your decisions, their rationale, and their repercussions, as needed.
Areas of Ownership:
Their hiring process is designed for you to demonstrate a generalist set of capabilities. The Founding Engineer needs to be a Generalist Full Stack Engineer.
Areas of Expertise:
•Demonstrated experience working with React Native
•Knowledge working with TypeScript, Node.JS and SQL
•Fullstack development experience with large volume project-based work
•Navigating startup environment and/or working closely with C-Level Leadership
Other elements of their tech stack that would be highly beneficial experience to have but not required:
•Async; realtime, event-driven systems; vs synchronous, request/response systems
•Networking - HTTP 1, TCP/IP, WebSockets/QUIC/HTTP 2/HTTP 3
•Browsers - DOM, rendering, layout (box model, flexbox, grid), network limitations, etc
•Mobile - React Native vs Swift/Kotlin/etc, limitations of mobile vs desktop vs browser, etc
•Reactive UI frameworks - why use them, and how they work under the hood
•RPCs - REST vs gRPC vs GraphQL, their relative strengths and weaknesses
•Databases - SQL, sharding, schema vs schemaless, eventlogs
•Queues - Event-driven systems, realtime delivery, append-only vs point-in-time data
•Paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
