Web Development Technical Writer For Equity Through Technology Initiatives

Job Description

Advanced Systems Group LLC provides onsite managed services for a prominent global tech company based in Mountain View. We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to write Web Development training content for our global external developer community, with the potential to reach millions of users. You will partner with subject matter experts, training specialists, and other technical writers to create and deliver engaging and effective learning experiences tailored to students of various backgrounds, from beginner to advanced. You also will be expected to establish and maintain productive relationships with partners, learn new technologies quickly and explain them to the target audience, and manage and curate multiple sources of content.

The mission of the Equity Through Technology developer program (ETT) is to deliver equitable representation of underrepresented groups within our client's developer ecosystem. The initiative brings together myriad efforts and individuals across the company who are working on a latitude of projects.

This is a full time salaried role with benefits fixed term with our client for 6-8 months with possibility of extension.

Responsibilities: 

Plan, create, and maintain training materials in Web Development for a variety of students, from beginner-level to advanced.Write technical documentation and other student-facing learning content, including sample code, UI text, and quiz questions.Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, product engineers, software engineers, and/or technical writers, to create online educational content. Maintain and modify existing content, updating and improving content as needed.Edit, improve, and proofread content written by others, and give feedback to non-writers to improve their writing skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

2+ years experience in technical writing1+ years experience in web development, either as a technical writer or developerAbility to write clearly in EnglishAbility to learn complex technologies quickly and well versed in technical topics, especially web based software developmentDemonstrated record of working effectively on cross-functional teamsExcellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical groupsAbility to manage and organize your tasks and workload independently

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in computer science or other technical fieldFamiliarity with markdown or HTML / CSSExperience working directly with engineers on a product for technical user-baseExperience writing for online education platforms Experience working on teams that use agile project management methodologyTolerance and enthusiasm for ambiguity and change

Remote requirements:

Reliable home internet connectivity. Ability to troubleshoot own devices & connectivity.
