Generation Bio seeks an energetic and highly motivated Senior Process Data Analyst/Scientist to join the team and focus on developing, building, and maintaining databases and data processing systems in support of discovery, development, and manufacturing. You will work with a variety of scientists, IT, and Quality to design and develop systems to improve data analysis, visualization, and interpretation to empower our scientists at all levels to access our data. As a result, the work will require tool development, implementation, and ongoing support across the organization. The goal is to create a variety of metrics, dashboards, and analyses to answer critical scientific questions for the stakeholders and the leadership team. The ideal candidate understands science, bioengineering, data management/data warehousing, and thus can talk the talk with our team.

Primary responsibilities include:

    Collaborate with scientists from research and development to establish the right informatics and data to collect, methods for data capture and tools for analysisCollaborate with IT/ELN team to develop, build, test, validate (as needed) and maintain database tables/views, processing systems, and analytical reports Import data acquire data from primary or secondary data sources into structured databases/data systemsBuild SQL queries for data visualization tools (i.e Tableau or Spotfire)Collaborate with GMP manufacturing to connect data from manufacturing back to process development by use of; on premises, cloud based, and virtual systemsConnect and post data through web APIsDatabase management, scripting, and administration using Toad, Oracle SQL or equivalentAdhering to all safety requirements and confirming departmental employees comply with required safety procedures.


    Direct knowledge/training in industrial biotechnology and data management/data warehousingDirect experience in database design development, data mining, segmentation techniques and other systems such as LIMS, Tableau, PIFamiliarity with ELN systems and working knowledge of SQL is expectedExperience MS-Access, SharePoint, and VBA is a plus.Ability to work with others to troubleshoot complex technical and scientific problems while showing independence in execution and thought processesExperience in instrument integration including REST API to the data warehouse strongly encouraged.Understanding of software validation and computer software assurance.Direct experience in documentation of the software development lifecycleExperience in vendor interactions/management.

Preferred Qualifications:

    Advanced degree in life sciences or engineering with at least 7 years of industrial experience in data systems or as a data analyst/scientistPrior experience in the gene therapy and/or rare disease space
