Consider an opportunity to pave the way in a new position. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) at the University of MN seeks an Enterprise Site Reliability Manager (SRE) to guide and design a long-term strategy for large, enterprise-level infrastructure services with a U- wide impact.
This position will directly manage a group of engineers along with leadership oversight of multiple cross-functional service-teams. This position will also collaborate with multiple IT groups across the institution and provide support to various Service Owners. Strategic SRE Implementation
Work with IT leaders and business stakeholders to understand the demand for SRE services and develop a strategic vision to meet those demands.Work with technical teams and make recommendations on how systems can be more resilient and reliable by leveraging HA configurations and cloud resources.Work with multiple teams to build Service Level Objectives and build monitoring and alerting strategies.Design and implement innovations that improve service reliability, infrastructure resiliency and security, and data availability. Ensure the infrastructure meets performance and capacity requirements. Implement security policies and procedures; evaluate security audit requirements.
Management of Staff
Help engineers develop their careers through personal and performance management.Responsible for resource forecasting and allocation, hiring, training and development, performance management, goal-setting, and employee recognition and engagement. Ensure technical solutions meet quality, security, and compliance requirements; work directly with key stakeholders and technical teams to ensure solutions have passed the required quality checks. Foster an inclusive environment appreciative of differences in the workplace. Conduct mid-year and annual performance reviews.

Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience, including managerial/supervisory experience, or a comparable combination of education, training, and/or experience.SAFe, Lean, or Agile experience in a management role. SRE Leadership experience either direct management or through product management/ownership of SRE capabilities.Experience with software development, automation or infrastructure as code experience. Experience providing technical leadership and architectural guidance to cross-functional projects and/or teams. Experience in delivering large, complex projects.
Cloud infrastructure as code experience (i.e. Azure, AWS, Google and on-premise cloud solutions).Experience building or leading configuration management tools Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt, and application schedulers like Kubernetes, Nomad, DockerSwam.Experience building or leading CI/CD tools for a production application in an enterprise environment. Experience building or leading with monitoring systems: Elastic, Splunk, SCOM, PagerDuty or similar.Experience troubleshooting certificate issues and PKI infrastructure.
