Job DescriptionMorton has an immediate need for a Data Analyst with a customer located in Atlanta, Georgia.   The selected Data Analyst will be responsible for discovering analytics and system integrations requirements, identifying data sources and criteria needed, documenting specs for developers, testing the output, and ensuring user acceptance. This position will work directly with internal customers, business process owners, leadership, Business Analysts, and BI, ETL, and Webservices Developers.   The ideal candidate has proven working experience taking a vaguely stated business question and unpacking it into specific requirements, data sources, and criteria. The skillset is a cross between a business analyst working with the customer on requirements discovery and a " data detective" identifying and interpreting data using SQL and analysis skills. Analytical /conceptual/ curious/ problem-solving mindset is an absolute must. Experience writing SQL against complex tables containing historical/future data is a must. Working knowledge of HR data and processes (esp. PeopleSoft HCM data) is strongly preferred. Selected candidates will be expected to walk through their data gathering, analysis, and SQL experience in detail.Responsibilities: 

    Analyze large volumes of complex data that requires consideration of multiple factors to interpret the informationWork closely with stakeholders to understand the business process and turn vague one-liner requests into detailed, testable requirements that meet the business needsPropose and implement analytics solutions to support business needs and data-driven decisionsSupport new system implementation projects, including data feeds, data design, and mappingIdentify and document data sources, criteria, and data mappingDevelop subject matter expertise and understand dependencies between source systemsUse SQL to explore, extract, and analyze data, including historical dataAssess data quality and completeness and implement solutions to ensure accurate reportingPropose solutions to collect new data points to support metrics and identify trendsDesign reports/dashboard layouts to present data in a clean, consumable, and insightful formatWrite report and data feed specifications for BI, ETL, and Webservices DevelopersReceive and prioritize requests for reportsAssist customers with ad-hoc reporting needsAudit existing reports and propose improvements for findability of dataServe as a resource to Business Analysts and Developers for data-related needsSupport development of other team members' data analysis skills though knowledge share
    Bachelor' s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business, Finance, or related field3-4 years performing data analysis3-4 years as a business analyst (working with stakeholders on requirements and business process)2-3 years of experience writing complex SQL queriesAbove average analytical and conceptual thinking; resourceful problem-solvingFascination with data, desire to learn new concepts, finds business process and data analysis rewardingExpert level SQL skills; experience writing complex queries with multiple table joins, subqueries, and historical dataBasic knowledge of database design principles, deep understanding of relational databasesFamiliarity with data warehouse, data mart, ETL, and webservices conceptsExposure to reporting tools and some hands-on experience building reportsAdvanced Excel skills (formulas, charts, pivot tables)Strong interpersonal skillsExperience communicating with all levels in the organization in a clear and concise manner using non-technical languageExcellent documentation skillsAttention to detail and accuracyStrong experience working with HR data and processesProcess analysis skillsAbility to lead others to articulate requirements and uncover hidden needsFamiliarity with SDLCExperience managing multiple requests and projectsAdaptability to changing requests and prioritiesExperience with PeopleSoft HCM data (preferred)Eye for aesthetics and usability in report design (preferred)Data visualization experience, such as dashboards (preferred)Familiarity with statistical methods (preferred)Predictive analytics/forecasting experience (preferred)1-2 years of BI experience working with Cognos, Tableau, or similar BI suites (preferred)Strong presentation skills (preferred)
