Widen’s growing SaaS software portfolio helps our customers solve problems with bringing marketing content to life. We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our growing data team. In this role you will work closely with software engineers, data analysts, product managers, researchers, and others to build scalable and maintainable systems that move and store data. You will use your expert-level knowledge of acquiring, transforming, and storing high-volume software product usage or other transactional data to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and storage systems for critical customer-facing data.

Work closely with other members of the data team, software engineers, and infrastructure engineers to build high-volume data pipelines that power our customer-facing analytics tools
Take ownership of the customer-usage data pipeline from design and implementation to support and maintenance
Ensure that data is valid, clean, and modeled for optimal use within our applications
Be the subject matter expert for data streaming pipelines and processing, providing guidance on best practices, capabilities, and limitations
Lead and participate in collaborative data modeling and storage discussions
Oversee product usage data transformation, normalization, cleansing, aggregation, workflow management, and business rule application
Evangelize high-quality engineering practices towards building data infrastructure and pipelines at scale
Ensure that pipelines are monitored, durable, and have proper test coverage
Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) of Widen and customer information held in any form
At least five years of experience building and maintaining data pipelines for real customers in production systems
Fluent in several programming languages (JVM and/or otherwise)
Enjoy wranging large amounts of data and exploring new data sets
Comfortable with data modeling and performance tuning in relational and no-SQL databases
Have had real-life exposure to capturing and storing software product usage data in data lakes or warehouses as well as scaling and optimizing ETL pipelines
Experience with data streaming platforms such as AWS Kinesis or Apache Kafka
Experience using automated testing principles and testing best practices
Travel to the Madison office is required twice annually
Experience building applications that run on AWS
Experience building your own data pipelines from scratch, know what goes wrong, and have ideas for how to fix it
