1. Good project management skills. Writing skills are important, but THE COMPANY wants to see candidates who can take something from idea to finished publish/launch.
2. THE COMPANY is not looking for someone to write documentation. They will be writing externally facing blog posts as well as press releases etc.
Ideally looking for someone with an Infrastructure - Cloud Services background. Working with core engineers and devs. If they have experience working with ML and /or Data Scientist that would be a major plus. Role includes research, internal/external, blogs, writing academic papers. Working with engineering teams is a MUST - having the ability to write compelling and accurate engineering docs - required is a proven command of cultural and technical understanding. . Target audience is the Engineering team(s). Person will eventually help create the "Voice of THE COMPANY". Ideal background will be coming from an IBM or Cloud Hosting Company with high level of understanding of BI Tools, working with Engineers and Product Managers to help them write internal blogs (audience is 20% internal / 80% external).

We’re looking for a passionate Technical Content Writer & Content Marketer to join Platform Product Marketing team as the first technical writer and content marketer. Our goal is to increase adoption of our platform and tools with internal users, while growing our technology brand. You will be a key person in making both goals happen, driving awareness of our platform and our research inside and outside.
Alongside the Product Marketing Lead and in collaboration with the central comms team, you will help craft content for the purposes of outreach across three key “market” segments: the internal developers, the open source software community, technical research, and leaders of the tech industry. We will look to you to craft our messaging, evangelization, and outreach efforts make it easier for others to adopt our technology. This role will give you a rare chance to define a global technology platform brand—but doing so from a brand with 170+ million customers and the support of a global team of product managers, user research experts, engineers, technical researchers, and tech leaders.
What you’ll do:
Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as engineers, technical researchers, the Communications team, etc. to develop content, including research and information gathering, writing and editing copy, creating and editing video and images, and posting content to various digital channels, including our various blog properties, social media channels, and more.
Own and develop the content calendar for our engineering and technical research blog, and associated social media channels.
Collaborate with Platform’s Product Managers, Product Marketers, and stakeholders to ensure that our newsletters and other communications accurately reflect our goals, specific infrastructure and tooling value messages, and is generally impactful.
Provide executive communications support for senior technical leaders by working with the comms team and our PR agency to source, draft, and place speeches, memos, and articles.
Collaborate with sister missions and Business Units to ensure we tell the best and most authentic product/engineering stories as possible.
Work with Legal, Communications, and other central stakeholders to ensure compliance of our content to company rules and policies and overall strategy.
Who you are:
Established experience as a Technical Writer or Content Marketer with a focus on software, machine learning, or engineering-related topics
Knowledge and passion about the technology infrastructure and technical research marketplace (e.g., cloud computing, B2B, open source, software infrastructure, developer tooling, algorithms, etc.)
A track record of collaborating with a variety of cross-functional partners in a dynamic environment. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and remain focused on customer needs.
Excellent stakeholder management skills. You can work collaboratively and independently, and have experience presenting to large groups and senior audiences
You have excellent writing and communications skills, and are comfortable serving as our editor for sharpening the messaging on our blog posts, tech talks, and other outreach
You are data driven and can turn insights into actionable growth initiatives
