About the VMware Private Cloud Team:

The VMware Private Cloud SRE Team manages a large virtual environment that is based on the VMware software package.It is currently comprised of "5050+ ESXi hosts and over 80,000 individual virtual instances.Our users depend on the team to manage actual infrastructure availability as well as provide consistent future enhancements.The Comcast Private Cloud world is the place where engineers come to share their ideas, build optimization around our products and services, interface with our users daily, and respond to market and technology driven changes.We provide our engineers with the tools and opportunity to materialize their ideas and turn them into successes.

Responsibilities:

Help the Private Cloud team to assure the environment is highly available

Help the team build automation and tooling to manage our growing physical infrastructure

Lead/participate in automation efforts using established agile concepts such as daily stand-up meetings, task tracking boards, design and code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment

Work closely with our user base to ensure that our efforts meet their expectations and desired outcomes.

Requirements (Must have):

-Documented experience with VMware Technologies at the architect/Sr. Engineer level:

-Extensive SSO understanding including Enhanced Linked Mode

-LogInsight

-vRealize Suite of tools (vRA, vRO, vRops)

-AutoDeploy including ImageBuilder

-vCenter HA / SRM

-Extensive PowerShell / PowerCLI Knowledge

-Extensive knowledge of API, RESTful API and services

-Hands on experience with networking at the CCNA level

-Experience with DevOPs and understand systems like OpenStack, Artifactory, Kubernetes or Docker

-Programming proficiency with Ruby, GOlang, Python, OOP, Rest API, JavaScript, and C programing languages

-Experience with frontend development using Angular, HTML, and Javascript

-Experience in Configuration Management (Puppet, Ansible, SCOM etc)

-Knowledge in relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, MS-SQL, or similar)

-Experience with source control systems (GIT) and software development disciplines

-Familiarity with CICD using Jenkins and Circleci

-PaaS / CaaS / MaaS experience to include Cloud Foundry

-Excellent Linux administration skills and understanding of system performance areas (memory, swap, disk, i/o, network i/o, CPU contention, and CPU thread balancing etc.)

Requirements (Preferred):

-BS or master’s degree in CS/CE or equivalent work experience.

-Hands on experienced with the design and architecture of VMware Orchestrator and vRealize Automation

-Experience with storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, and SDS (preferably EMC Scale IO)

-Understanding of standard web technologies (HTTP, JSON, etc) (Web Front End / Design Knowledge)

-Experience with Public Cloud computing environments and applications (AWS, GCP, and Azure).

-Effective system design and problem-solving skills.

-Understanding of algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization techniques.

-Willingness to work in a dynamic agile environment and participate in all aspects of our agile process.

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, team spirit, and positive approach.

-Participating in an on-call rotation.
