DUTIES: Provide technical leadership within team responsible for building software for Comcast Cable's customer premises equipment (CPE), including Set-top Boxes (STBs), cable modems, etc.; develop, enhance and optimize software and platform features running on embedded devices, utilizing C++, Java, Python/Perl/Bash scripting, and HTML5/JavaScript web platforms within a Linux Operating System; utilize Binutils, GCC and GDB tools for programming, compiling and debugging; manage web content delivery with TCP/IP network protocol; decode, transcode and render video using GStreamer; implement graphics stack with OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) application programming interface and Wayland protocol; utilize adaptive IP streaming protocols, such as HLS (HTTP live Streaming) and DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) running according to MSE (Media Source Extensions) and EME (Encrypted Media Extensions) specifications, to enable high quality streaming; identify and fix performance bottlenecks and software defects, and integrate and update open source components for applications/platforms running on STBs; conduct source control management operations using GitHub services; conduct code reviews of modifications written by team members, and assist team members in identifying and fixing software defects; perform unit and integration testing; participate in tracking and evaluating performance metrics; collaborate with Quality Assurance to determine if software is developed according to specifications and requirements; and provide technical leadership throughout the Agile software development lifecycle, guiding team members in architecting and building a robust, scalable platform.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field and five (5) years of experience developing software on embedded devices, including Set-top Boxes, utilizing C++ and Java in an Linux operating system; which must include three (3) years of experience working on HTML and JavaScript web platforms, utilizing TCP/IP protocol stack, GStreamer, OpenGL, and Wayland; of which one (1) year must include writing code using Python, Perl and Bash Scripting.
